Social Work Resources
The diverse field of social work allows professionals with different educational backgrounds and experiences to enter its ranks. In New York, social workers generally divide into three camps: professionals with a bachelor of social work (BSW), licensed master social workers (LMSW), and licensed clinical social workers (LCSW).
Each of these paths receive regulation from the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), and each require the completion of a post-graduate examination. In New York, the Office of the Professions of the New York State Education Department governs social workers.
