Increase your knowledge or get a certificate in Value-Based Payment. Value-Based Payment (VBP) is a fundamental part of DSRIP, and now partners can be recognized for their learning and mastery of the subject. NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) has just announced the launch of VBP University — an online, educational resource created to raise awareness, knowledge and expertise in the move to VBP. MHVC will also be utilizing VBP University as a component of its own VBP training and implementation strategy.
VBP University (website here) combines informational videos and supplemental materials that you can use to advance your understanding of this pivotal transformation effort. To see if the VBP University program is right or you or your organization, watch a video overview by NYS Medicaid Director, Jason Helgerson, here.
The online curriculum is structured into semesters; to obtain a certificate, attendance is required at one of the regional VBP Bootcamps that will be scheduled across the state during the fall.
The VBP University curriculum includes four semesters:
- Semester One: Background and foundational information on VBP
- Semester Two: Topic-specific information such as governance, business strategy, stakeholder engagement, finance, and data
- Semester Three: VBP Contracting (September 2017)
- Semester Four: VBP Bootcamps (October and November 2017)
In order to obtain a VBP Certificate of Completion, a passing grade of 80% or higher is required on the quiz at the end of the first three semesters; you may take the quiz multiple times until you pass. If you attend a VBP Bootcamp, you will receive a printed copy of your certificate; otherwise a copy of your certificate will be e-mailed to you.
NYS DOH is seeking interactive conversations around VBP University by encouraging outreach through Twitter, #NYSLearnsVBP; questions can be sent to MRTUpdates@health.ny.gov.
