The Blueprint for Health Equity is an extraordinary interactive learning opportunity, that will allow you to consider the work you will be doing through the eyes of the people you will be serving. This workshop will explore the social determinants of health through a health equity lens.
The day kicks off with a presentation from Dr. Kenya Beard, who will provide an overview of the structural causes of poverty, exploring the intersection of poverty and structural racism as social determinants of health, and the impact on health outcomes.
WestCOP will then lead the Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS), designed by the Missouri Community Action Network, in which participants will have the chance to experience first hand the challenges their clients face when trying to make ends meet.
The day concludes with a presentation from our keynote speaker, Erika Bernabei, who will delve further into the social determinants of health, racial equity, and creating actionable items that address health disparities.
There is no cost to attend this event.
